Why surf with us
Each package is built around real progress in the water. Here is what changes after you paddle out with us, whether it is your first wave or your tenth.
Small groups mean more time on your board and less time waiting. You learn to read waves, handle wipeouts, and paddle with purpose, so the ocean feels less intimidating every time you go back.
Our certified coaches grew up surfing these beaches. They adjust every lesson to the day's swell, wind, and rip conditions, so you are never guessing where to paddle or when to call it.
Soft-top boards and rash guards sized for your level, checked before each session. If something feels off, our repair bench fixes it on the spot instead of cutting your day short.
Tidal awareness is not a lecture, it is part of the warm-up. You learn how to spot a rip current, what to do if you get caught in one, and which zones are safe for your skill level that day.
Weekly lessons follow a clear path: balance drills, pop-up mechanics, then wave selection. You track your own progress and know exactly what to practice between sessions.
Reef-safe sunscreen, board wax, and spare leashes are stocked at the kiosk. Grab what you forgot, drop off your board for a quick check, and head out before the morning wind picks up.
Package Formats
Every Bale Kami package is built around small groups, certified instructors, and the local conditions at our stretch of the South African shoreline. Whether you are booking a single lesson, a holiday camp for the kids, or a monthly rhythm of ocean time, the structure stays the same: a short beach briefing, a focused session in the water, and a quick debrief on what to practice next.
A 90-minute session for beginners who want to feel what standing up on a soft-top actually involves. Includes board, leash, and a rash guard, plus a tidal safety briefing before you paddle out.
Three mornings a week during school breaks, built for ages 8 to 14. Each day mixes land drills, shallow-water games, and short wave rides, with a heavy focus on reading the beach and building water confidence.
A relaxed two-hour session on Saturday mornings, paced for women who want to learn or improve without the pressure of a mixed group. Covers paddling technique, wave selection, and how to handle a wipeout calmly.
Four coached sessions per month for intermediate surfers who can paddle out on their own but want feedback on positioning, timing, and turning. Each month ends with a video review on the beach.
A 60-minute dry-land session for schools, clubs, or families. Covers rip current recognition, beach flag systems, how to signal for help, and what to do if you get caught in a current. No board required.
Daily rental of soft-top boards and rash guards, plus a repair bench for dings and fin box issues. Drop off your board before your morning paddle and pick it up ready for the afternoon session.
Program Notes & Conditions
Clear definitions of lesson formats, equipment use, and safety briefings so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive at the beach.
Group sessions capped at six participants per instructor. Each lesson includes a 20-minute dry-land briefing on paddling technique and wave selection, followed by 90 minutes in the water. Soft-top boards and rash guards are provided for the duration of the session.
Suitable for first-timers and those who have not surfed in over a year. Wetsuit boots are recommended during winter months and can be added at no extra cost.
Structured three-day blocks for ages 8 to 15, running during school breaks. Mornings focus on beach safety games and balance drills; afternoons are reserved for supervised wave riding in waist-deep water. Instructors hold current first-aid certification and child-safety training.
Parents are asked to stay within sight of the designated beach zone during sessions. A sun-protection kit is included in the clinic fee.
Weekly two-hour sessions designed for adult women who prefer a smaller, supportive group environment. The format covers wave reading, paddling efficiency, and catching green waves, with a maximum of four participants per instructor. Boards are matched to your height and experience level.
No prior surfing experience is required. Sessions run at low tide on Saturdays, and the meeting point is confirmed by email the day before.
Land-based briefings covering rip current identification, tidal movements, and local beach hazards. Each workshop lasts 45 minutes and includes a guided walk along the shoreline to point out real-world examples of safe entry and exit points. Open to all ages.
Workshops are free for anyone enrolled in a lesson package. Standalone attendance is available by reservation, subject to a minimum group size of four.
Rental boards are available by the hour or for the full day, with a valid ID held as a deposit. Repair services cover dings, fin box replacements, and leash attachments; turnaround time depends on the extent of the damage and is quoted before work begins. All rental equipment is inspected before and after each use.
Each format is built around small groups, certified instructors, and the specific conditions of our local beach breaks. Pick the structure that fits your experience level and your week.
One-on-one sessions for surfers who want focused feedback on technique, wave selection, or confidence in bigger surf. Your instructor adapts the session to your goals, whether that's catching your first green wave or refining your bottom turn.
Our standard format: max four students per instructor, so everyone gets individual attention without the solo price tag. Sessions start with a dry-land briefing on tides and paddling technique before we hit the water.
Multi-day camps for kids aged 8 to 15 during school breaks. Each day mixes surf time with ocean awareness games, beach safety drills, and plenty of free play in the shallows. Small instructor ratios keep it safe and fun.
