Surf school & ocean safety hub

Learn to ride the swell with confidence, from your first paddle to your best wave yet.

Bale Kami runs small-group surf lessons, junior holiday clinics, and women-only mornings along the South African shoreline. Our certified instructors focus on water confidence, tidal awareness, and reading local beach conditions before you ever stand up on a board.

Our journey so far

From a beach shack to a full coastal hub

Bale Kami grew out of a simple idea: that everyone deserves to feel at home in the ocean. Here is how we built a community around safe, joyful surfing on the South African shoreline.

2016

First lessons on the sand

We started with two soft-top boards, a handful of rash guards, and weekend beginner sessions at the local beach break. Word spread quickly among families looking for patient, certified instruction.

2018

Junior holiday clinics launch

Parents asked for structured school-break programs, so we built a five-day camp format with age-appropriate drills, tidal safety briefings, and plenty of shallow-water play. The first season sold out in two weeks.

2020

Women-only mornings begin

A small group of regulars wanted a calmer, supportive space to build water confidence. We introduced dedicated women-only sessions with female instructors, and the community has grown every season since.

2022

Board repair and rental kiosk

We added a small workshop for dings and fin repairs, plus a kiosk stocking reef-safe sunscreen, wax, and practical accessories. Locals now drop in for a board check before their morning paddle.

2024

Ocean awareness workshops

Our tidal safety briefings grew into full workshops covering rip current recognition, local beach hazards, and reef-safe choices. Schools and visitor groups now book these sessions throughout the year.
